The first stage was to compile the materials. For the affirmations, I adapted them from the book "Creating Money - Keys to Abundance" by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer. I like them because they are brief, to the point and powerful.

Music: "Ray of Light" wasn't just a random selection. I chose it specifically because it's catchy, upbeat, and has an empowering feeling to it. Many people have asked me to replace it with an instrumental piece because some find the lyrics distracting. But that would change the entire piece because there are phrases in the lyrics that act as anchors to the affirmations and pictures in the video. The phrases give the right 'punch' to the messages behind the composition.

For instance:
when the lyric goes "...And I feel like I just got home..." the corresonding affirmations would be "Prosperity is always finding ways to express
itself in my life"; and "I easily create money and abundance through joy, aliveness and self love."

For me, the meaning behind this is that we have to 'go back' to who we are to know what our definition of prosperous and abundant is really is. Only then ways to manifest them is opened up to us.

Images: They are mostly symbolic representations on wealth and prosperity. For example: leaves growing on the tree represents the regenerating energy of money; dollar signs in light bulbs symbolize creative ideas being turned into profitable source of income; and the spinning/spiralling circles in the videos are interpretations of infinite abundance - no ends and beginnings.

Vision Video: Beautiful

Theme: Life is beautiful.
Description: This video is a reminder to look beyond what's in front of your eyes. They have helped me change my habits, my lifestyle and my outlook on life. Best of all, affirmations can be turned into intentions which are very effective magnets to attract what I want.

For affirmations and intentions to work, they have to be repeated as often as possible. Like any new exercise program, I see affirmations as mind exercises. So if you want results, you have to be as consistent as possible until they get embedded into your mind.

However, I have a rather short attention span. And reciting affirmations or reading my highest goals and intentions off a stack of cards everyday is simply too boring! I find myself losing interest after some time.

But I know it’s something that really works (like magic, I might say!) and it’s worth keeping to it, no matter how boring it gets. Surely there’s a way to overcome the boredom?

That’s when I started to explore many ways to make using affirmations interesting and entertaining. I came across a myriad of methods which I tested out. For example, making my own affirmation artwork and decorating my room with them; creating my own vision boards (cutting pictures that represent my desired results and pasting it on a board); and using subliminal audio CDs.

They were all effective methods. However I wanted to find a way to combine all of them into one – something that’s entertaining and interesting.

One day, I was at the gym working out. To keep gym goers entertained, there were TVs installed in front of the machines. I did my standard 30-min jog on the treadmill while watching music videos on MTV.

Ever since I adopted a positive lifestyle, I don’t really watch too many music videos or listen to current hits because they give off very low vibes – crude language, negative lyrics, emphasis on lust/sex, greed/money, vanity, violence, etc. Usually I would read a book or listen to motivational CDs while on the machines.

However that day, I left my books and Ipod at home, so the only thing to keep me occupied was the TV. 30 minutes passed by pretty quickly because it was fun and entertaining to watch music videos. I have seen many of those videos many times before. But because they were short clips (hardly exceed 5 minutes per video), with visually appealing images on screen accompanied by catchy music, I didn’t mind watching them again.

That’s it! A light bulb flashed in my head. I’ll make MY own affirmation music videos! I’ll start with using words that empower me and songs that uplift me. That’s how Vision Videos came about.

It’s a simple formula. Affirmations/Intentions work best when you combine them with images and most importantly, emotions. Empowering words without emotions are like a well-furnished car without fuel – it can’t start or move. This becomes the concept and inspiration behind my Vision Videos.

That said, my Vision Videos combine all three:

Affirmations/Intentions + Images + Emotions = Results

Affirmations/Intentions
Effective affirmations are positive, in the present tense and short. For example: “I live in abundance.” “I choose to feel abundant.” Never use the words “will” or “going to” as they signify you are still lacking something. Always write affirmations on things as if you already have them.

Images
I discovered how powerful images can be through my vision board. When you can actually see what you want (ie. pictures of your dream house, dream car, dream boat, etc), it strengthens the affirmation/intention even more as it tells the mind that it is possible to have it.

I also like working with symbols because they bypass the thoughts and beliefs about what you think is possible or not possible to have. Symbols are neutral representations without doubts or limiting beliefs attached to them. They are also useful when what you desire is not a ‘thing’. For example, if you want more love in your life, you can represent that with a blissful-looking woman carrying a huge heart in her arms.

Emotions
This is the most challenging, and most essential element. Essential because it’s the catalyst that materializes your intentions. Challenging because it’s not that easy to call up an emotion each time you do your affirmations.

I consider myself a highly sensitive person who would cry at a drop of a hat or feel on top of the world, so I thought working up an emotion would be a piece of cake. Trust, me, I have tried working up happy emotions ranging from subtle peace to high euphoria – and it was no cake at all!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s possible, but wasn’t quick and easy to pull out a happy feeling from nowhere. Recalling a past happy event helps but it wasn’t powerful enough.

But music does, and rather instantly too. For example, if I want a feeling of empowerment and a world full of possibilities, "Ray of Light" from Madonna does it for me. If I want to recall how beautiful and meaningful life is, Sophie B Hawkin's "As I Lay Me Down" reminded me that. I guess it's a personal thing which song moves you. But most importantly, it works.

At the time of penning this and setting up this blog, I have just completed my second Vision Video on abundance, prosperity and money. It’s a combination of the three elements mentioned above. So far, its received pretty good response on YouTube, I am glad to say! I guess that means the formula works for other people too. Now, this certainly keeps me going to produce more videos. :)
